In-House Dental Lab Allie Williamson, AAS, BS, CDT-TEAllie is fortunate enough to have made her passion, her career. While still attending high school Allie enrolled in non-credit dental tech courses at the local community college as an extracurricular activity. It was only obvious to continue an accredited curriculum at So. IL University in Carbondale and pursue the profession of dental laboratory technology. After attending SIU-C College of Technical Careers, Allie graduated with honors holding an Associate’s degree in Dental Lab Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Advanced Technical Studies, and RG status with the National Board of Certification in Dental Lab Technology. She immediately began working behind the bench to build her career and within a few short years Allie attained CDT status in Complete Dentures and was in a leadership role at a large production lab. The experience strengthened her skills and opened opportunities to gain further knowledge from some very talented and respected mentors in the dental technology profession. The passion for her career motivated her to eventually own her own full service lab and attain another certification specializing in C&B. The success of owning her own lab was not exclusively attributed to education and passion; Allie is fortunate to have found a soulmate with the same career interest. Her husband, Mark Williamson, CDT-DTG has been her mentor since the early years of her career and still has an immense influence on her continued development as a certified dental technician and technologist (CDT-TE) in fixed and removable prosthodontic fabrication. As her career progresses, Allie discovers within herself a natural talent to train dental technicians. She worked as a full time Technical Education Specialist for labs around the country. The experience as a trainer coupled with decades of experience as a production technician, led Allie to become the founder of DLT Training & Education LLC; a training program designed for mid-career dental professionals. The advancement in dental technologies makes continuous education eminent for dental healthcare workers and in January 2025 Allie was the recipient of the NADL and NBC Excellence in Education Award. Allie stays up to date with knowledge and skills by working with one of her mentors, Dr. Matthew Hallas at Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry in Green Bay, WI working as an in-house technician. Allie hopes to influence dental healthcare workers by protecting and applying fundamental restorative knowledge, then take the dental technology profession to entirely new levels of greatness.  Mark Williamson, CDT, DTGMark D. Williamson CDT, DTG is a certified dental technician and a member of the Dental Technicians Guild. Mark is currently the Clinical Laboratory Manager for Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry in Green Bay, WI. Native to the Chicagoland area, Mark has accumulated over 43 years of experience in analog and digital Complete Dentures, Implants, Partials, Surgical Guides, and Ceramics. Mark’s certification specializes in Complete Dentures and he is a Kois Recognized Specialist from the Kois Center, Seattle, WA. Mark’s career began at the age of 18 working for a specialty removable dental laboratory. After seven years as an apprentice, Mark became the proprietor of his own removable lab that grew his reputation as a knowledgeable and talented technician. He merged his company with a large production lab where he built leadership skills. It was after this merger Mark would meet his wife, Allie. Sharing a passion for the profession and being a certified dental technician as well, their mutual career goals led them to open Essex Dental Laboratory, Inc; a small boutique full-service laboratory that ran successfully for thirteen years. In 2007, Mark and Allie merged their business with Ottawa Dental Laboratory, LLC. Through the years, Mark learned of exceptional dental prosthetic work and took advantage of the opportunities for further education such as Dawson’s Theory of Occlusion, Spears Study Club, John Ness PTC, Swissadent, Massad Denture Technique, Pound/Turbyfill Technique, Staub Cranial and Nobel Clinician. He was also one of the first technicians in the U.S. to train in the BDT Technique. Mark’s passion for continuous education led him to become a founding member of the Chicagoland Dental Technician Study Group hosting reputable speakers such as Michelle Magne, Don Cornell, and Jack Turbyfill to name a few. Mark has served as president of the Marvin Healy Study Club and president of the IL Dental Laboratory Association. Mark is an experienced chair-side, AOX specialist and teaches other technicians to master chair-side conversions. In September 2017 Mark was awarded as the first-place champion of the (then) inaugural Panthera Dental Master Cup, an international dental technology skill competition. His passion to share his experiences and knowledge has brought him to the lecture circuit for different companies including Nobel Biocare, KOL for Yamahachi Dental USA, KOL for WhipMix Corp, and KOL for Panthera Dental. Mark is the author of various technical publications for multiple trade journals and was recognized as CDT of the year in 2019. |
