Do You Know How to Care for Dental Bonding?

Do You Know How to Care for Dental Bonding? If you have a tooth that is slightly chipped or cracked, and you need a fast and affordable repair, dental bonding can be exactly what you're looking for.

However, if you opt for dental bonding as opposed to something more permanent like a crown, you do need to be aware that dental bonding requires a bit more careful maintenance than other types of dental prosthetics.

Dental Bonding Can Stain More Easily

One thing you should know is that your dental bonding will hold discolorations and stains more easily than your natural teeth or a crown would. This means you need to take special care to avoid certain types of foods and beverages if you want to keep your dental bonding looking good.

Drinks such as coffee, tea, and red wine can quickly lead to staining of the dental bonding. Likewise, certain types of foods like blueberries can cause the dental bonding to become discolored faster than it otherwise might.

You should also avoid tobacco of all forms—in addition to being hazardous to your health, tobacco stains your teeth. If you are a tobacco user who has been looking for an excuse to quit, now is a good time. Your health will be better, and your dental bonding will look better for a longer period of time than if you continued to use tobacco.

Dental Bonding Can Come Off

If you eat foods that are very sticky or crunchy, you can end up damaging your bonding. Likewise, chewing ice is strongly discouraged. If you follow these simple precautions, you should be able to keep your dental bonding in good repair for quite some time.

As always, please know that we are here to help you. If you have any questions about your dental bonding please do not hesitate to ask us.
