Are you wondering what teeth cutting is and when or if you need it? Another word for teeth trimming is called interproximal reduction.
This process is also called teeth stripping and what happens is that the dentist will "strip" off some of the enamel on individual teeth. If they are in proper alignment together, they would usually touch together. However, the goal of teeth trimming is too narrow the teeth. Here is some information on when this stripping process is needed. When is Teeth Trimming Needed? Before you get this procedure done, you will need to speak to us about whether or not you even need it done. We will examine your teeth to ensure it is required before we get started on it. There are a few different reasons why it may be needed. There is more information on the reasons below.Proclined IncisorsAre your teeth flared out, or forward? If they are, teeth trimming will help the dentist put them back to normal alignment.Overjet CorrectionOverjet refers to the problem of your teeth protruding out. If this is happening to you, you need them trimmed down to make them aligned regularly. Ask your dentist if this type of procedure is necessary for you.Tooth Crowding and Size DiscrepanciesIf your teeth are crowded together or are bigger than the other ones, they may need to be trimmed down a little too narrow them and to align them properly. As always, before getting any procedure done, talk to your dentist and even your friends and family and make sure it is needed. Once it is done, it is done, and you can't take it back. You will also want to ask them to give you an anesthetic before we do this for you because this involves cutting the teeth down.
