Denture pain is something that all denture wearers will deal with at some point in their lives. Fortunately, it isn't something that has to make you miserable, as there are ways to manage, prevent, and treat it.

Make Sure Allergies Aren't the Problem
If you have an allergic reaction to cleansers or adhesives, you could suffer from a burning sensation in your mouth. Allergies can also cause gum irritation that may result in pain and mouth ulcers. Talk to your dentist if you suspect that you might have an allergy to your dentures or any related product.

Clean Your Dentures Properly

Make sure you are taking your dentures out of your mouth each night before you go to bed so that you can brush them properly. Avoid using toothpaste, as they could be abrasive and might damage them to the point where they don't fit right and could cause sore gums.

Give Your Gums a Break
It is especially important that you are taking your dentures out periodically, especially when you get a new appliance. If you experience a sore in your mouth, make sure you take your dentures out and put them aside so that they can heal. Then, put your dentures in again and see if the pain has subsided.

Eat Soft Foods
The process of getting used to your dentures could take a few weeks, and in that time, you can improve your comfort level by only eating soft foods. While you may be excited to eat a steak or other tough food items again once you get your new teeth, you need to give your mouth time to become accustomed to your dentures before you make that leap.

Give Herbal Remedies a Shot
Placing aloe vera onto the gums where your dentures are causing you pain can help to relieve discomfort. Aloe can soothe and heal your gums, and to get the best results, avoid eating for an hour after application.
