Signs Your Dentures Have a Poor Fit

Posted on 1/10/2018 by Dr. Hallas
Dentures Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry WI 54303-2636There are a number of signs to look out for to determine if you have ill-fitting dentures. The cost of dentures will differ upon the number of missing teeth to be filled.

Even the cost of a full set will also depend on whether or not your teeth were already extracted by the time you visited us. Ideally, you let your jawbone or gum tissue to heal or cure first before going in for measurement.

Be Careful Before You Take That Bite

Poorly fitting dentures are actually a common occurrence, which means this is also easily corrected. The most obvious is that your false teeth will slip even when you talk. It will come off when you open your mouth, laugh and sneeze. Another sign is when you can't eat properly. Poorly fitted dentures can cause an overbite or underbite, which makes eating difficult.

Sores are another sign that your dentures have a poor fit. You can tell when sores start to form from feeling a slight discomfort to downright painful sensations. Wounds may also develop when the dentures keep on rubbing on your gums or palate.

Bad breath is another sign that your dentures are not the right size for your teeth. Food particles can lodge in the gaps between the false teeth and your real teeth, or in the space between the roof of your mouth and your dentures. Bacteria will thrive under these conditions, causing halitosis.

When you favor one part of your mouth when eating, the reason could be your dentures. This will develop into jaw problems later on when you continue to chew only on one side of your mouth. We understand that dentures can be expensive, which is why you hesitate to go to the dentist.

However, you will end up paying more on dental correction and restoration if you already have problems with your jaw. You don't need to suffer from loose dentures when we can rectify the situation immediately call us today.
